If you find yourself with some free time during your stay at PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments Dublin Sandyford, why not enjoy your surroundings by taking a walk.

Nestled in the hills behind Sandyford, the Ticknock Forest Walk offers a great network of mountain and forest walks and is understandably one of best walks in Dublin. The leisurely 6km walk should take no more than two hours, or more if you stop to admire the stunning views over Dublin and the Irish Sea. You’ll also learn a little about the history of the area along the way with attractions like an old rifle range and a mound of stones that actually sits on a passage tomb from the Bronze Age. With multiple ways to approach the trail, you can find a way that suits your ability and how much you want to challenge yourself.

Tibradden Wood lies between Cruagh and Kilmashogue mountains, just 20-minutes from PREMIER SUITES Sandyford, is a scenic walk near Dublin with just the right level of difficulty to challenge yourself without needing boots or a map. The gorgeous woods are filled with Scots Pine, Japanese larch, European larch, Sitka spruce, oak and beech trees. The highest point on Tibradden has a great archaeological feature, an open cairn & Cist burial site and is a great place for a breather and to take in the fantastic views. The walk is less than 5km and you could always reward yourself with a meal in the famous Merry Ploughboy pub on your way home.

Did you know that Dublin has its very own haunted house? Montpellier Hill, better known as the location of the Hell Fire Club, is located in the Dublin Mountains and is a great place for an afternoon walk or an evening stroll to tell ghost stories. The walk from the car park to the top of the hill is around 4.5km of forest roads and tracks, suitable for experienced walkers with moderate abilities. The abandoned, roofless, hunting lodge at the top of the hill is said to be the site of many scary events and supernatural visitors. Besides the scary stories, the view across Dublin are unrivalled, giving you a bird’s eye view of the city.

The linear cliff walk is easily one of the highlights of the East Coast of Ireland and is just the right level of difficulty for beginners with no major climbs and not much unsteady ground. From start to finish, the cliff walk is approximately 7km long and takes about 2 hours to complete. Depending on how you plan to get there you might want to go back the beginning making it an enjoyable 14km walk. You might also decide to enjoy the view from the DART. The walk follows the Irish coastline and has some of the most amazing views this side of the country. Finish off your walk with lunch in one of the gorgeous cafes or pubs in Greystones Village.

Just a few minutes off the M50, Carrickgollogan Forest Walk is one of the countries hidden gems and one of the most scenic walks near Dublin. Two of the main attractions in Carrickgollogan are the viewing rock at Carrickgollogan Hill and the now disused lead mine chimney at the northern boundary. The Lead Mines Way Loop is just 2.5km so even the most inexperienced walkers can take part. No trip to Carrickgollogan would be complete without visiting the viewing rock. Located just off the Wicklow Mountains the stunning views will impress even an experienced hiker.
